Chavez is hard at it turning Venezuela into a bastion of socialism. I guess he figures that the country's oil revenues will fund the transition. He is wrong. No matter how much money you have, socialism costs more. For, socialism feeds on wealth and like the horseleach in Proverbs, never says "enough."
He already lives in fear. I understand that he spends lots of time in an flying office safe from assassination attempts. But, as his drive for socializing Venezuela inevitably fails, he will be forced to hunt for enemies, traitors, and counter-revolutionaries. [Socialism means never having to say your sorry - there are so many others to blame.] So, everyone will inform on and denounce everyone else, the prisons will fill, the firing squads will be on overtime, there will be blood - much blood, and there will be fear. For, the Terror needs fear.
Damn, I hate The Revolution.
And, yeah, I know there are socialist countries (Sweden, England, etc.) that don't look like what I described and I don't know why. Still I'll bet I've got Chavez pegged.
