So, Ratko Mladic has been arrested. I have
no doubt that he was behind the slaughter
of innocent civilians. He should be put
on trial and, when convicted, sentenced to
death.
I do not think he should be submitted
to the arbitrary justice of international
criminal courts. His crimes were in
Bosnia and that is where his trial should
be. The vagueness of trials based on "crimes
against humanity" or "war crimes" by self-
proclaimed courts using laws projected on
countries and people not under their jurisdictions
only invites abuse.
We did the right thing in Iraq when
Iraqi courts tried Sadaam and his
henchmen.
Justice is required, but not every
attempt at justice is just.
